Little Boy Jacob

We got to spend the evening with Jacob.  Notice I have changed the title from Baby Jacob to Little Boy Jacob.  He is growing into a little young man.  He is growing so fast and everything about him is starting to seem just a little more grown up.  He is so adorable when he tries to mimic the gestures of others, for example, if you tell him no-no and shake your head...he shakes his the same way (how can you not smile at that?), and if you blow a kiss he tries to make the same noise.  Not to mention he has the cutest BYE-BYE wave...with some pretty neat wrist action going on.  He is so smart!  I could just eat him up.  I hope he'll always know how much the Parker's love him.

Weekend Getaway

This past weekend, Ricky and I decided to go to the mountains for the weekend.  It was a much-needed escape.  We both have been feeling somewhat "under the weather".  I knew Ricky must be at a weak point when he agreed to let me do the driving, because that almost NEVER happens.  He cat-napped while I drove and I managed to get him there in one piece!
Saturday we went tubing on the Oconalufftee River.  Seriously, it's the most fun you can have for $10.00.  We did it years ago when we were dating and we had a blast.
After tubing, we took a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Beautiful!!
Time flew by, just like I knew it would, but we had a great weekend...
Bonus: Ricky sang "Brown Eyed Girl" to me...I love that, and him!
Ready for TUBING!

Ahh...so relaxing!

Perfect escape....

The squirrel took our picture...cool!

Ain't we got fun?

You Are My SonShine

Parker...my baby boy.  Gosh, where do I start?
Parker was my first experience with unconditional love.  You may ask...what about others...my parents, etc.  Yes I have unconditional love for them too, however, Parker was the first to make me recognize and understand the concept.
Parker has had a trying and difficult year.  He has made good choices and some not so good ones.  He has tried me just like most teenagers do at some point. He's so much like me it's scary (which isn't always a good thing).  Even though I haven't always been the greatest parent, I think he has turned out to be a fine young man.
I wish I had the power to shield him from the bad things/people in the world. It's sad that some people concentrate on the negatives instead the great things...but that's how this world has become.
I love him, so dearly and I am proud to call him my son.

Rebecca Joy- Rainy Days & Mondays...

Ever heard the classic Carpenter's song entitled Rainy Days and Mondays?  Today was one of those Mondays where motivation was hard to come by.  Just like always,  the Lord knew just what I needed.  It came in the form of a text.  My big sis Becky sent me a text just to say that she was thinking of me and hoped I was feeling better.  Somehow, it was exactly what I needed to turn the day around.  I think it's human nature to overlook the angels on earth, and that's exactly what she was today.  Sometimes the seemingly smallest of gestures mean the most.  I'm certain she has no idea what she did today but it made the difference in how I would handle the rest of my day.
Thank you Becky!  I love you.  I appreciate the unconditional love you always display.  You give the truth whether it hurts or not, but not in a way to hurt or judge. You set a good example and I hope maybe one day to be more like you.  Sometimes it takes getting older to understand and appreciate others.  I become more aware of that with each passing day.
The next time you are near me I promise to kick off my high heels and run through the woods to see you because I know it will be worth it!

4th of July & Happy Birthday Baby!!

This past weekend Ricky & I went to the beach for the 4th and for Baby Jacobs 1st birthday party.  We stayed with my parents at their place.  My sister Lisa also has a place for the week on the ocean front.  The weather was great and the party for Jacob was a lot of fun.  It was so nice to have an extra day off from work.  Ricky went fishing with my Daddy and caught a few flounder.  All in all...it was good to get away....
No Work! Yea!!
